The Woman In The Rain

By: Allan T.M.

A man saw a woman alone in the rain. She was looking down all wet and alone. The place was dark and was situated near the park. All the vehicles passed her by without taking notice. The gloomy scene took the man’s attention and rushed towards her.

The man was in his 40’s, his hair has started to gray and was wearing glasses. He is a bit short from his peers but is good looking nonetheless. As he closed by towards the woman, he handed his umbrella to her.

When the man started to talk to her, the woman somewhat became startled. She looked at the man with surprise but her expression changed when she saw him. “Alex?” The woman recognized him. The man paused a bit after his name was called and later recognized the woman in front of him. “Bella?”
The man replied and paused.

“What are you doing at this time of the night?” The woman stared at him. Alex saw a waiting shed meters away and said to her handing his umbrella. “You are all wet, let us talk near that shed over there.” The two decided to head over the shed and talk. “It is been a while since I saw you.” Bella said to him and returns his umbrella.

“No, you should take it. You can return it to me later.” Alex replied to her and took a seat. Bella’s tears began to roll from her eyes and started to cry once more. Alex tried to comfort her and asked her to tell him of her problems.

“That’s nice of you.” Bella tried to reply with a smile at his kind gesture. She was unable to hold herself back and hugged Alex then cried out loud. Bella stopped crying as the rain slows down.

She apologized for the sudden outburst of her emotions and stood up. “Can I borrow this umbrella?” She asked Alex beside of her. Alex replied with a nod and then stood up. “Bella, it is been a while since we seen each other. If you want someone to talk to you can always call me.” He said handing out a business card to her.

“Thank you Alex, you have been so kind ever since!” Bella gives an appreciative smile to him. “My pleasure!” Alex replied and shakes her hand. “You were always been important to me. I may not been able to be with you before, but allow me to make it up to you. This time as a friend!”

“Thank you, but I shall leave now. No worries, I shall return your umbrella later!” Bella without any second thoughts turned back and left. Alex waited for the rain to stop at the waiting shed alone. He remembers of the fond memories he spent with Bella.

It was in this place where he met her and the same spot where he left her. His time with her as her lover may have been the best for him, but, he regretted that it never lasted. This time only memory remains, the slightest remainder of it.

Forever which will remind his heart and mind to learn to cherish things before they are gone. She may not be the best woman he had, but she was his best lover.
